Week 5 Request a Selfie.jpg

This year at Thornlands we are introducing 'Request a Work Selfie' to our classrooms. The idea behind it all is that students are provided the opportunity to choose a piece of work that they would like to share to our broader school community. Each week I will drop off my 'Request a Work Selfie' jar and two students from the class of the week will clip a 'Selfie Peg' to their work that they would like to share with me. I will then share a photo of the students and their work with our Thornlands School community. Check out below some of the fantastic work by our students.

2C and 2T were very keen to share all the great sentence writing that they have been doing as part of our school focus around Vocabulary. Eddie and Suri worked very hard in forming sentences whilst using the word 'forbidden' in the correct context.

Archer and Evie have also been putting vocabulary into action using the words 'mischief' and 'froth' in their writing as they were the focus words of the week. Thanks for sharing the fantastic work that you have been doing in your classrooms.

Over in 2H and 2S, being bossy is the new thing…..The students have been working on using bossy verbs in their procedural text writing to give commands to the reader. This ice cream recipe that Maddie wrote sounds delicious with the use of descriptive noun groups and the bossy verbs used gave clear instructions on how to make the recipe.

Mason, Lachlan and Oren have been building on their sentences using expanded noun groups and strong vocabulary words to create a picture in the readers mind. Well done, you have really hooked me in!
